Wirral Street Lights

Campaign to repair and maintain Wirral street lights!

AIMS

The aims of wirralstreetlights.com are:

  • To encourage Wirral Borough Council to repair broken street lighting in a timely manner.
  • To encourage Wirral Borough Council to maintain existing street lights by adhering to a regular maintenance schedule.

While it is recognised that the council does currently undertake these activities, we argue that there is much room for improvement.

My personal experience of finding dozens of street lamps broken over a journey of a few miles appears typical. Other residents have reported lights continuing to be un-repaired more that one year after being reported to the council.

We argue that this situation is not something that has occurred over a short period, but is rather due to either a policy of de-prioritising lamp post repair and maintenance, or gross mismanagement over a period of years. Neither is satisfactory.
